What is Ice-O-Lator?

Ice-O-Lator, also known as Iceolator, Ice Hash, or Bubble Hash, is one of the most potent solventless cannabis concentrates available in Dutch coffeeshops. The name originally comes from the specialized extraction equipment developed by Mila Jansen, known as "the Queen of Hash," through her company Pollinator. How is it made?

The production process is a method of mechanical separation that combines cold temperatures and movement to extract cannabis resin without the use of chemical solvents. First, cannabis plant material is frozen and then submerged in ice water just above freezing temperature. The mixture is agitated to detach the trichomes, the resin glands containing cannabinoids and terpenes, from the plant material. The water is then filtered through a series of fine mesh screens with progressively smaller holes, which separate the trichome heads by size and purity. The highest quality grade, known as "Full Melt," leaves no solid residue after burning and represents the purest form of Ice-O-Lator. After filtering, the collected resin is carefully dried and can be consumed as loose powder or pressed into dense blocks of hash.

Flavor and Aroma

The flavor profile is earthy and spicy with notes of pine and herbs, though the specific taste varies depending on the cannabis strain used in production. High-quality Ice-O-Lator can have floral and peppery notes, with a smooth smoke that reflects the purity of the extraction.

Effects
